Outside of the ridiculousness of that email, it did bring to my attention that I have never discussed the topic of finding a virgin in Thailand.

There are two different schools of thought on having a virgin in Thailand:

1- Why the FUCK would you want a virgin when you can have a girl that knows what she is doing!

2- I want a virgin, plain and simple!

This post will apply to the second of the two.

First thing you need to realize is, there are a few different types of virgins in Thailand:

1- Those that are young. (We are talking about 16 and under.)

2- Those that come from VERY controlling families and who rarely speak English (You will not meet these unless you speak fluent Thai and are in some Thai social circles.)

3- Hi-Society girls from wealthy families who use virginity as a “type” of bargaining tool for their daughter’s marriage.

4- The exception to the rule. A normal “good girl” who has never had sex in high school. This girl will either be terribly ugly or rarely speak English.

I’ve known A LOT of guys that WANT to sleep with a virgin Thailand, but only a few that have actually accomplished it.

Note: The following advice may be different from your experience if you speak fluent Thai and live in some poor Thai village in Essan. But if that is the case, who cares. Why live in Thailand if you are slumming it hanging with locals drinking Sangsam all day – every day. If you are going to do Thailand, do it right!

I digress…

Long story short, there is a good chance that if you’re reading this, you don’t speak fluent Thai nor are you part of Thai hi-society. So I’m not going to get into those options.

Nor will I recommend that you find a virgin in her 20’s who is a virgin only because she ugly.

Nor will I recommend that you find the “exception” to the rule. That is like finding a needle in a haystack.

So this leaves only one option, find them young.

Note: I have no first-hand experience in this, since I play it safe in Thailand by NEVER even talk to a girl who is under 18. Nor do I commit to a girl longer than one night.

However, I do have a couple friends where finding a virgin girl was VERY important. This is the method both used:

1- Make friends with Thai people and / or hang out around high schools

2- Find one with a daughter who is around 16 that you liked.

3- Go on chaperoned dates with the girl.

4- Negotiate a dowry with the girl’s family.

5- Wait till she is 17 / 18 years old and marry her.

Although spiders don’t really bother me, I do have some friends who are deathly afraid of spiders to the extent that they will run out of their house and refuse to enter again until they have proof that the spider is gone. So arachnophobia is nothing new to me.

Advice about Spiders in Thailand:

1- This will be less of an issue in larger cities like Bangkok than it will be in places like Chiang Mai and Koh Samui.

2- Personally, in over three year, I’ve only seen 3 large spiders in my apartments. All three were not poisonous and easy to trap and kill.

3- I tend to stay in “nicer” and more expensive places than the typical backpacker tourist will. Which means, “nicer” places in Thailand have a lower rate of insect and critter problems.

Anyways, not much to be said on this topic. Is it possible that you may encounter a spider or two while being in Thailand? Yes.

But is that possibility really enough to keep you from visiting Thailand???

Below I’ll go over a few tips for buying tailor made clothes in Thailand.

What NOT to do when Buying a Suit:

- Never let a taxi driver or tuk tuk driver convince you to visit a tailor shop that his “brother” or “friend” owns.

The driver may offer you a free taxi ride, but the cost at the tailor shop will be 3x what you should be charged. (Not to mention, these are VERY high pressured sales people that are VERY good at making you feel like shit if you refuse to buy anything.)

What TO do when Buying a Suit in Thailand:

- This is one of the only times that I recommend visiting high tourist areas in Bangkok. In places like Khao San Road or Sukhumvit, you can get some good prices in suits that are solid quality.

- The prices are not set in stone. Always negotiate. Don’t pay any more than 1,000 baht (30usd) for a tailored dress shirt. I usually pay around 800 baht (24usd) but I’m sure there are more inexpensive places available.

- The tailors are good salesmen. They will try to negotiate different prices for different fabric. First have them show you the best two fabric and pick the one you like. Then set your price. Be prepared to walk away if they don’t meet it.

- Never pay in full. Never leave more than a 50% deposit.

- Try it on and send it back if the “fit” is not perfect. Even with the tailor I use every year in Bangkok, I still have to send back the shirt at least once to get it refitted.

- Buy 2 days before your departure so you have time to correct the fit.

What Tailor Do I Recommend:

There are probably a 1000+ different tailor shops throughout Thailand. After looking around the Sukhumvit area, I found one that I liked and stuck with it. I doubt it’s the best shop in Bangkok, but it’s defiantly not the worst.

They are pretty straight forward without the annoying used car salesman mentality. Note, I have no affiliate with this shop. This is just the one I use.

Prices:
Never bought a suit from them, so I’m not entirely sure. But I wouldn’t pay more than 150usd per suit (4,500 baht).
